System of Qualification of Breeders (SQR)

 UNDERSTAND SQR !

The aim of the SQR and to highlight breedersand their offspring according to criteria not only morphological (conformity to the race )but also and especially, health criteria guaranteeing the future purchaser. Nevertheless, breeders who have already spontaneously committed themselves to a genetic quality approach can,thought the qualification system, take full advantage of the efforts made in recent years. In fact many cats already have the elements allowing them to integrate the grid at high levels.

 Système of Qualification of breeders LOOF is based on voluntary service.

The breeder is not obliger to register his breeder in the qualification system. This is an optionnel approach. But many cats already have the elements allowing them to integrate the grid at high levels.

The qualifiers thus obtained will be marked on the pedigrees from january 2015 giving also to the acquirers a better overall visibility on the qualities the parents of their future kitten.

The LOOF breeding qualification system is progressive.

  • It must allow for the first levels to integrate a maximum of reproducers : To be effective the qualification system must be based on the widest possible genetic base ;
  • It becomes for the higher levels more and more selective and valorizes the reproducers according to three criteria :  genetic health, ability to transmit quality and morphology.

In what consists the system of qualification of the LOOF breeders ?

The LOOf breeding qualification system consists of the allocation of qualification levels inscribed in a grid called " a selection grid".

This grid takes into account two new elements in the selection of feline species as:

  • The breed compliance test ;
  • Participation in special breeding ;
  • The taking into account of health information concerning the main disabling inherited disorders in a giving breed.

Principe of selection grid:

The grid of selection is divided into 6 levels the 4 first concerning the individual and the last two integrating the performances of the descendants (son and daughter).

The conditions for each levels are the same for all brefs except the health items that appears in level 3 "selected" and which varies according to disabling hereditary diseases present in the breed and for which there are genetic tests.

Level 1

Registered

Level 2 Compliant
Level 3 Selected
Level 4 Recommended
Level 5 Elite B
Level 6 Elite A
N1 Level 1 : « Registered »
The first level of the selection, grid corresponds to the inscription pedigree LOOF for cats born in France to mark the difference between cats with pedigree and cats without pedigree.
A cat with pedigree thus retains all the rights is currently has.
N2 Level  2 : « Compliant »
The level 2 corresponds to the successful passing of a race conformity examination . This examination by a bone judge aims to ensure that the cat examined meets the standard of his breed ans shows no preliminary defects.
N3 Level 3 : « Selected »
The level 3 corresponds to a level 2 cat with a higher morphological performance level (champion, Premior LOOF) and the introduction of health elements( genetic test) variable according to the breeds.( See the page specific to the breed selection grids) .
N4 Level 4 : « Recommended »
The level 4 corresponds to a level 3 cat with a higher morphological performance level (international champion or Premior International LOOF, Double Champion or Double Premior LOOF), DNA identification and race one to two additional health data 3 maximum.
The cat must also obtain an "excellent" adult class (over 10 Month) at a special breeding.
This level is the highest for a given individual.
N5 Level 5 : « Elite B »
The level 5 is assigned to a cat meeting the selected level 3 criteria thus already genetically identified and there are a least three son or daughter offspring, of level 3 for females and 5 descendants of son or daughter for males. The tests of filiation are obligatory to take into account these descendants.
N6 Level 6 : « Elite A »
The level 6 is assigned to a cat meeting the recommended level 4 criteria, thus already genetically identified and there are at least 3 son or daughter offspring  of level 4 for females and 5 descendants (son or daughter) for males. The test of filiation are obligatory to take into account these descendants.

Implementation of the SQR transitional measure

In order to the process already cas at least champion or premior LOOF, or having obtained the certificates required for the validation, of the title of champion or premior LOOF before 1 January 2015 will be exempted from the conformity examination.
